In 2000, Gillian Chung and Charlene Choi signed the contract with Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG) and officially begant their career in the Hong Kong entertainment industry. After spending a year together in the training class EEG organized, on 2001 May 19th, they officially became members of the now famous Hong Kong female Pop Duo Twins.
Twins immediately became students' favorite idols because of their cute, energetic, school girl image. Twins is a miracle. No one saw a bright future for them when Twins first came out even though they hit it big instantly. 3 years of existence was the most optimistic outlook for them. After numerous rumors of splitting up throughout Twins' career, Twins celebrated their 6th anniversary in 2006 by "marrying" in their anniversary album "Our Love for 6 Years". They even went on a world tour to celebrate with their fans, with their last stop in North America (their first concert there).
It could be said that faith brought the two girls together and organized them to work together. Each with a different personality and lifestyle was able to amend the other's fault. Thus, creating a well-balance group. Over the years, they develope a deep and loving friendship despite the rumors of fights and disagreements. They have been supporting each other since day one. Their friendship is reflected in their anniversary song "Our Love" lyrics. Their support for each other is strongly reflected during the 2 scandals Gillian was involved (in 2006 & 2008). Despite the challenge Twins face in 2008 because of the photo scandal, Charlene continues to stand by Gillian's side and claims that Twins will not split.
On November 21, 1982, a natural super star was born in Vancuover, Canada. Although Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin, also known as Ah Sa to most family, friends and fans, is a natural born Canadian, she was brought up in Hong Kong since the age of 1 and considered herself more of a Hong Kong than a Canadian.
She became a model when she was in Form 3, which is equivalent to 9th grade in the United States and Canada. While shooting for a magazine in 2000, Charlene noticed a woman was starring at her. Later, she found out that the woman was Mani Fok. Charlene did not really know who she was until people tell her that Mani is the manager of the pop stars Nicolas Tse and Joey Yung. In 2001, she became a member of Twins. At first, Charlene's family did not want her to enter the entertainment industry because they want her to live a normal life. They believe that there is no need to earn a lot of money as long as she is happy.
Not long in the entertainment industry, Charlene began to take up roles in movies and was considered to be very successful. In 2007, she won the Best Actress Award for the psychological thriller Diary in Korea. In the same year, she was tied with the international star Gong Li as Best ACtress for the movie Simply Actors.
